Should women be in ministry?

A woman with medium length red hair, wearing a pink collared blouse under a purple dress jacket, raises her left hand, as she preaches and reads the gospel from the bible on top of a wooden podium, with a cross sign engraved in front

Should women be in ministry?

This question has caused a lot of controversy in the church down through the ages. This need not be.

The bottom line just has to do with understanding the “will of God”

God has levels to His will. Scripture says so:

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.” ~ Romans 12:2

There is the “good” will of God

There is a higher level that He would prefer: His “pleasing” will.

and , finally, there is His PERFECT will. The highest level.

Once we understand this. That there are ‘levels’ to His will….the question of women in ministry becomes quite easy

You see-the HIGHEST commandment to us and the church right now is :
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”~ Matthew 28:19
and
“He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation”~Mark 16:15

God cares MUCH more about the message going out ( His highest will) -than the particular shape or form of the “messenger” being used . The message is the important thing! If the character and intent of the messenger is right before God-then the ‘messenger’ is simply the vessel being used.

The biggest commandment of the Lord to us, the church right now, is TO GO and God will anoint anybody (man or woman) who obeys the CALL TO GO!
It is with this in mind that one can find “tons” of examples of women who have been in service to God, to the men of God and to now to the Body of Christ.
In the Old Testament God used woman to carry out His will for His people, there was Abigail in 1st Samuel 25, and Esther in Esther 1-8. God used these women because He could trust them, He knew them and He their ways and their character.

As a matter of fact He “liked” what these women did “so much” that He recorded it in His Holy Word, for all to read!

In the New Testament, it is a known fact that many women followed Jesus and His disciples, ministering to their needs and displaying a diligence for prayer, steadfast faith and being used in many capacities. Mary and Martha, Lois and Eunice in 2nd Timothy, Priscilla from the book of Acts, Philips four virgin daughters who prophesied

-and others . . .

All this, once again, shows and demonstrates that God is more interested in His ministers/servant’s character than their gender. Once again-His “perfect will!”

Modern, present day examples of women used by God, during the last century alone, include:
Kathryn Kuhlman
Aimee McPherson
Joyce Meyer
and
Paula White

Just to name a VERY FEW!

Last, to wrap this question up-if Jesus was SO CONCERNED to ‘never let a woman’ preach or explain Him, etc. to anyone …at all…then
our Lord should never have let the following scripture come to pass:

“The woman said, “I know that Messiah (called Christ) is coming. When He comes, He will explain everything to us.”
Jesus answered,“I who speak to you am He.”
Just then, His disciples returned and were astonished that He was speaking with a woman. But no one asked Him, “What do You want from her?” or “Why are You talking with her?”
Then the woman left her water jar, went back into the town, and said to the people,“Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” So they left the town and made their way toward Jesus.” ~John 4:25-30

Jesus clearly never stopped the woman -but actually encouraged her to go into the town and spread the news about Him, Jesus.

One of the first “women evangelists”!!

Women in ministry?

If they are being used by God ,correctly. . . ?

SURE !
